Out of my top 10 movies, I enjoyed The Lake House the most (DUH, since it's at #1) mainly because it has depth. It’s not just a silly movie about two persons in different time zones falling in love. There’s a plot, there’s emotions and lastly, there’s great development of the plot. The Devil Wears Prada could easily be the most iconic movie of this year. Seeing Anne Hathaway strut in branded wear (not only one), easily absorbs u into the movie as she battles the ‘evil’ boss Miranda Priestly.
The Holiday is this year’s Love Actually. With a strong cast and romantic story line, what more could you ask for in a festive movie? It’s a beautiful film, and great one to sum up the year with. Magical with a twisted plot --- The Prestige sees Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman battle it out in a atypical aspect – performing magic. See as they strive constantly to outdo each other in their tricks and stunts. Even thou reality slams the absurd story line flat, it’s really phenomenal. Watch it and you’ll know. Another movie which I liked and spots a twisted plot is Match Point. It’s carefully scripted and Scarlett Johansson gave an awesome performance.
Owing to the harsh realities I had to deal with this year, funny shows are a must. The funniest movie goes to She’s The Man and John Tucker Must Die. Amanda Bynes in She’s the Man is a total natural. Night at The Museum which stars Ben Stiller could be said as my favourite comedy of the year. The hilarious actor from Meet the Parents and Meet The Fockers creates another miracle which has substance and is original! I loved the movie, every single bit of it! Another epic-like movie yet with a less serious and dull storyline would be Eragon. Tagged with a high entertainment value, this highly enjoyable movie would appeal to people with childhoods.
In Her Shoes was witty and carries more depth than you think. However, there’s something very wrong with the cast. Over The Hedge is funny but has no memorable or outstanding moments which makes it stand out (like Finding Nemo). The Pirates Of the Carribean : The Dead Man’s Chest is lengthy and somewhat non-captivating, Johnny Depp is the sole selling point of the show. Comic remakes were disappointing so I shan’t talk much about it. Aquamarine was not a very saleable movie but it is significant to me, in a personal way. Hard Candy was too hard to swallow I felt threatened by it’s monotony. And it’s Just My Luck that I spent money on something that dumb.
