Star Awards 2009 turned out to be one with little surprises. Initially everything was good -allocated front row seats and invitation to the post event party. I teared when brother Chor meng won, clapped hard when Joanne took the honour. However, the show was a tad too boring to keep my interest going. I lost count of the number of times I yawned, and was constantly sms-ing some others who were in the theatre too. The recipients really should work on coming up with better speeches and i felt the methods used to cut off awardees speecheswas highly distasteful. Some of the speeches were touching, while others all sounded almost the same and one sounded like he was reading off a badly written script and he didn't know what he was saying half the time. Saw a lot of friends and ex-friends. The show finally ended after a long 3 hours and I was looking forward to food and drinks at the reception when my ride insisted on leaving. Seeing that I had no other way of getting out of the place, I was left with no choice but to forgo the after-party. I'm not that big a person to forgive and forget but i guess it's good in a way because i do not need to wear a smile at all times.
